About Us

“There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer”

North Oyster Community Centre is located at 13467 Cedar Road, Ladysmith, British Columbia. The North Oyster and Area Historical Society (NOAHS) is a dedicated community of volunteers who have raised funds and donated thousands of  hours renovating and bringing the historic building to its present state.  Children, parents and grandparents have worked side by side at various fund-raisers.  Each one sees this as his or her project and the sense of community spirit has grown throughout the years.  There is great pride in NOAHS’ efforts to complete this daunting project through fund-raising alone and the Society is without debt to this day.

After extensive renovations, the building has been approved as an earthquake-proof structure.  Four large rooms have been gutted and rebuilt to present-day standards.  The upper rooms can be used for a variety of functions including wedding receptions, birthday parties, social gatherings and meetings. Those upper rooms are in close proximity to the state of the art kitchen and bathroom facilities. The lower rooms are suitable for any variety of activity programs.

The rear entry of the building is wheel-chair accessible and ideal for loading or unloading supplies.

There is ample parking available at the school site.
